I have been interested in tracing my family tree for many years and also in doing this website, (in my head anyway). I have FINALLY decided to get started and let the finishing take care of itself. Perhaps by publishing this site others will come forward and more of the puzzle will be put together.

When I originally started the tree about 30 years ago, there was really very little known about the O’Neills in Ballarat, (which is where my family came from). My father William Patrick O'Neill was born in Buningyong, the youngest of five children. He had three brothers, Mick (Michael), Jack (John), Tom (Thomas) and a sister Mary. His family had very few recollections of the O’Neill family, they were not great talkers and most of them left home when they were reasonably young. Therefore what I have pieced together is what I have been told, heard or summized and it isn't much. If by reading this you don’t agree with, or know something that I don't, please let me know. Any photos that you have either old or recent and would like to share, email them to me and I will add them as soon as I can.

From what I can gather our branch came to Australia, probably Geelong in about 1853 and eventually ended up in Ballarat. How this happened, I don’t really know but hopefully by sharing what I know, others will come forward and fill in the many gaps. Enjoy!!!!!
